JR Pass math: usually wrong. Here's when it actually pays.

14-day JR Pass after Oct 2023 hike = ¥80,000. That's Tokyo→Kyoto→Hiroshima→back, point-to-point. Anything less, you're overpaying. Math: KTC Hiroshima return = ¥38k. Add Kyoto round trip ¥28k = ¥66k. Pass loses unless you also Shinkansen Aomori or Hakata in the same window.
